Overview

In this role, you will provide in-house legal support across Allied World’s underwriting platforms in Europe and Lloyd’s. You will help ensure contract clarity, compliance, and robust policy wordings for multiple lines of business. You will draft and negotiate underwriting agreements, NDAs, and ancillary documents, while supporting underwriters and claims teams on coverage matters. You will collaborate with a global legal group to standardize agreements and policy procedures, contributing to risk management and operational effectiveness. Responsibilities

  • Analyze contract terms for new/renewal business to identify exposures and confirm compliance with corporate guidelines
  • Draft policy forms, endorsements, and ancillary policy documents
  • Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and judicial developments affecting the business
  • Review, draft and negotiate underwriting agreements, NDAs, and other policies in line with company risk tolerance
  • Support improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes; assist in policy development and implementation
  • Provide legal support to underwriters on submissions and coverage issues
  • Support claims personnel on coverage and procedural matters
  • Maintain standard policy wordings and endorsements for facultative reinsurance across Europe
  • Coordinate with global legal colleagues to handle complex issues and communicate guidance

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience in insurance or reinsurance coverage litigation or arbitration
  • In-house insurance company or Lloyd’s syndicate experience preferred
  • Experience drafting commercial insurance contracts
  • Strong analytical and technical skill sets
  • Ability to quickly understand key business issues and operational objectives
  • Effective communicator of complex messages (written and oral) to internal and external audiences
  • Good interpersonal skills and team orientation
  • Commercially minded, decisive, highly organized and principled
