Overview
Executive Director role in the Glasgow Accounting & Regulatory Policy team, a global centre of excellence advising on IFRS, US GAAP and Basel-based regulatory policy. You will lead policy outcomes across regions, influence senior leadership, and ensure policy interpretations align with risk appetite and governance. You will shape major policy initiatives, support regulatory change programs, and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, driving financial integrity and regulatory standing.

Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise-level leadership to drive consistent, well-governed policy outcomes across regions and legal entities
- Deliver strategic, forward-looking accounting and regulatory advice to senior management on developments with financial, capital, or disclosure impact
- Apply enterprise risk lens to policy interpretation ensuring alignment with risk appetite and governance framework
- Lead IFRS and US GAAP interpretation, focusing on complex, judgement-heavy areas with firm-wide impact
- Own global GAAP horizon scanning and translate developments into risk, impact, and action plans
- Serve as final escalation point for complex accounting matters (transactions, structural changes, disclosures) with material consequences
- Provide senior policy leadership on prudential regulation (Basel III, CRR/CRD, PRA rules) and supervisory guidance
- Advise on regulatory implications of strategic initiatives and changes in balance sheet or business models
- Support regulatory change programs by shaping policy positions, governance, and implementation for high-impact initiatives
- Represent Policy in major Firm programs and governance forums, collaborating with Finance, Risk, Legal, Treasury and Businesses
- Mentor and develop senior team members, manage performance, and drive sustainable capability building across Policy
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Deep technical expertise in IFRS and/or US GAAP
- Strong understanding of prudential regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations
- Proven experience providing senior-level accounting or regulatory policy advice with enterprise-wide impact
- Demonstrated sound judgement in complex, ambiguous situations balancing technical rigor with business risk
- Strong influencing and communication skills suitable for Executive Director and Managing Director level
