Overview
In this role you will manage the commercial performance of civil engineering schemes within the Infrastructure team, helping deliver a major highways project on time and within budget. You will collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and engineers to maintain strong relationships and ensure robust commercial governance. The position offers exposure to NEC contracts, change management, and cost planning at scale, across multi-scheme activity. You will work in a safety‑minded, values‑driven environment with a focus on professional development and agile working practices. Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment
- Negotiate and prepare subcontract documentation including terms, prices, and programme
- Manage subcontract works packages, interim assessments and change management
- Produce and issue commercial notices to Client and Subcontractors as required
- Oversee and manage changes, including Compensation Event Quotations
- Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications with the Client
- Coordinate with operations and engineering staff to maintain site records
- Produce detailed monthly reports, CVR, and maintain a Cost Plan with forecasting
Key requirements
- Good appreciation of NEC contracts
- Strong IT skills (Excel, Word) and experience with CEMAR and Oracle
- Relevant degree or equivalent and/or experience in a commercial environment
- Experience on large single or multiple smaller schemes
- CSCS
- Time and outcome management skills
- Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS (desirable; incorporated member, working towards full membership)
