Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial function for the Skye 132kV Reinforcement Project, ensuring strong cost control, governance, and NEC contract management. You will set the commercial strategy, manage risk, and drive value for money across major civils packages in challenging, environmentally sensitive terrain. You’ll mentor a commercial team, report on financial performance, and maintain alignment with client and stakeholder expectations. The role offers high impact in delivering critical energy infrastructure across the Highlands and Islands, with hybrid working and travel to the Isle of Skye and Fort Augustus.

Responsibilities

• Leading cost and commercial management across major civils packages
• Overseeing upstream and downstream NEC contract administration
• Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risk
• Procurement leadership and strategic supply chain engagement
• Accurate financial reporting, forecasting and budget control
• Driving value-for-money opportunities and managing change control processes
• Leading and developing commercial team members

Key requirements

• Proven commercial leadership on large infrastructure or civil projects
• Strong professional QS skills and qualifications; ability to work under pressure
• Chartered Member or Fellow of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (preferred) and mentoring capability
• FIDIC contract experience desirable but not essential
