Quality Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support and direct process and quality management activities under the Quality Manual. You will work with Process Engineers to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with procedures. You lead root cause analysis and corrective actions, manage MRB and nonconformities, and participate in audits and product reviews. You will collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure right-first-time outcomes. This position offers impact across precision manufacturing and high-integrity environments within Teledyne Qioptiq.

Responsibilities

• Ensure activities align with company operating procedures
• Guide procedure development to adapt to changing environments
• Support continuous improvement by identifying best practices and championing changes with Process Engineers
• Lead root cause and corrective actions using quality methods (8D, A3)
• Support fast-response activities using Fishbone, 3-legged 5 Why
• Manage department MRB process and report key issues and late MRB tickets
• Handle nonconformities and guide effective corrective actions
• Produce Right First Time data and publish results to direct efforts
• Liaise with all business areas, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues
• Conduct layered process audits and AS9100D internal audits where applicable
• Participate in business/product reviews to ensure customer requirements are addressed
• Build effective internal and external relationships
• Verify processes to AS9102 (FAI) and AS9145 (PPAP) or similar
• Risk mitigation and analysis (FMEA – PFMEA/DFMEA)

Key requirements

• High standard of formal education (preferably to HNC level or equivalent)
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements
• Time-served background in an engineering discipline
• Understanding of metrology (optical/mechanical) and problem-solving tools/techniques
• Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office for technical report generation
• Excellent communication, methodical work approach, and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure to meet demanding objectives
