Overview
As a Principal EC&I Engineer in AECOM’s Nuclear team, you will lead and deliver EC&I design across international and UK projects, from consultancy to turn-key solutions. You’ll mentor a growing EC&I team and forge strong client networks to drive high-quality, safe designs. You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary environment, tackling complex challenges and supporting bids and project delivery. Responsibilities
- Deliver EC&I design and engineering within the department, including design documentation and substantiation; review and approve peers’ work
- Lead, mentor and develop EC&I staff to grow the business and capability
- Collaborate on client consultancy, bid proposals and multi-disciplinary projects from concept to completion
- Gather engineering data and perform routine calculations and tests using established procedures
- Propose solutions for new problems by adapting standard methods and previous experience
- Provide guidance to entry-level engineers and manage work to budgets and schedules with limited supervision
- Independently complete primary design elements for engineering works
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and contractors; lead multi-disciplinary bid teams as needed
- Support recruitment activities, risk and quality management, and health & safety in design
- Engage with cross-functional teams in projects ranging from advisory to full turnkey solutions
Key requirements
- Qualified to a minimum of HNC level; preferably a relevant engineering degree
- Chartered Engineering, Incorporated Engineer, or on track to achieve
- Extensive relevant experience with strong technical knowledge and leadership capabilities
- Experience with Functional Design Specification, Basis of Design and User Requirement Specification production
- Experience in documentation and drawing checking/approval
- Awareness of mechanical/civil and process systems in a multi-disciplinary context
- Ability to deliver project deliverables within timescales, budgets and quality expectations
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary bid teams; liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors
- Assistance in recruitment; risk and quality management; understanding of BS7671 Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design
- Knowledge of building services design, control system design and instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, schedules); control panel design
