Staff Technical Product Manager

Overview

As Staff Technical Product Manager within Scale’s Global Defense, you own the roadmap for one or more defense-focused product areas and drive end-to-end delivery. You will be a hands-on leader who prototypes solutions, defines technical specs, and collaborates with engineers and ML teams to ship AI-powered defense workflows. You’ll translate allied defense needs into strong product decisions while navigating complex, classified environments. This role offers high-impact work shaping Scale’s defense products for national security customers.

Responsibilities

• Own product roadmap and execution for Global Defense areas, guiding what gets built and how it ships
• Write specs, prototype solutions, and discuss architecture with engineers to ground decisions in technical reality
• Design and ship AI-powered tools for defense and national security workflows
• Leverage customer context from allied defense partners to inform product direction
• Navigate defense development constraints across allied nations, including classification environments and air-gapped deployments
• Operate like a founding team member, multitask across engineering, operations, and go-to-market to drive outcomes

Key requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, or a deeply technical product role with hands-on shipping experience
• Technical fluency in software engineering or ML; master’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience training or evaluating models is advantageous
• Strong curiosity about AI systems and ability to form strong technical opinions on design
• Customer intuition with a builder mindset; bias for action in fast-moving environments
• Willingness to travel to allied partner nations as needed
