Overview

Senior Fire Engineer at Stantec leads performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, and other sectors. You will provide technical guidance through all project stages and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You’ll oversee fire and smoke modelling and ensure compliance with standards, driving innovative and safe design solutions. Responsibilities

• Deliver fire strategies for diverse, complex buildings and ensure compliance with relevant standards
• Lead fire and smoke modelling activities (CFD, evacuation) and coordinate with internal specialists
• Act as Technical Lead on bids and complex multi-disciplinary schemes
• Build and maintain client relationships; lead meetings, workshops, and regulatory consultations
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, and other teams
• Contribute to growth of Fire Engineering services; support fee proposals and strategic pursuits
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers toward professional milestones (IFE/CEng)
• Engage in internal initiatives and thought leadership within Stantec Fire Engineering

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficient in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills for presenting technical matters to clients
• Consultancy environment experience on multidisciplinary projects
• Degree in Fire Engineering or related discipline; Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards with IFE or equivalent
