Business Security Director

Overview

As the security lead for WPP Open, you will partner with product, engineering and AI teams to embed security, trust and resilience at scale. You’ll shape platform-specific security outcomes while enabling rapid innovation in a high-growth, AI-powered marketing platform. You’ll represent security in governance forums and drive risk-aware, data-protective practices across the product lifecycle. This role combines platform security, AI risk and client assurance to safeguard a strategic technology investment.

Responsibilities

• Security Leadership & Business Partnering: serve as the primary security partner for WPP Open, building relationships with product, engineering and architecture teams and translating security strategy into platform outcomes
• Product & AI Security: strengthen secure software development, evolve platform/API security controls, govern AI-enabled capabilities and agentic workflows, manage AI misuse and data protection risks
• Client Trust & Security Assurance: ensure client data protection, confidentiality and assurance for leading brands, maintaining trust in WPP Open’s security posture
• Identity, Resilience & Risk: advance modern identity/access models, platform resilience, incident response, risk metrics and security trends for senior stakeholders

Key requirements

• Experience in cyber security, product security, platform security or leadership roles
• Proven ability to partner with engineering, product and business teams in fast-moving tech environments
• Strong understanding of cloud-native platforms, SaaS, and modern software delivery
• Knowledge of AI security, IAM, API security, data protection and platform resilience
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
