Overview
As a Project Manager within Stantec’s Prairies and Territories SIR team, you lead environmental site assessment, remediation, and risk projects for downstream oil & gas and commercial sectors. You’ll guide scope, budget, and schedule while coordinating with cross-functional teams and clients. The role blends technical leadership with team mentoring, delivering compliant, data-driven solutions that protect people and the environment. Responsibilities
- Promote and lead a strong health and safety culture on projects
- Create detailed scopes of work and cost estimates for Phase I ESAs and Phase II investigations
- Develop remedial options and risk management strategies with technical teams
- Coordinate remedial/site management strategies with subcontractors
- Manage budget, scope, quality, and timelines for medium to large projects
- Analyze project data and prepare reports meeting regulatory requirements
- Liaise with field staff and discipline leads during execution
- Mentor field staff and lead field work on complex projects as needed
- Maintain client relationships and report project status regularly
- Support marketing and business development to grow environmental services
- Interface with other Stantec departments to promote SIR services
- Coordinate resource allocation across SIR projects
- Lead or participate in regular project meetings
Key requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing scope, schedule, and budget on SIR projects
- Proficient in intrusive investigation methods and remediation principles and technologies
- Strong understanding of provincial soil and groundwater remediation guidelines (AB, SK, MB)
- Knowledgeable in contaminant hydrogeology, data interpretation, and conceptual site model development
- Strong technical writing ability
- Ability to manage people and supervise projects
- Self-motivated, collaborative team player
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, graphic)
- Ability to prioritize and defend decisions
- Travel willingness for field oversight and meetings
- Education: degree or diploma as listed; Professional designation recognized in AB (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, P.Ag., etc.)
