Senior Sustainability Consultant

Overview

In this role you will support clients in achieving sustainability and decarbonisation goals across diverse sectors, with a focus on UK Defence & National Security. You will help design and deliver low-carbon, resilient estates, collaborating with clients and designers from concept through construction. You will contribute to certification and appraisal work while shaping long-term sustainability strategies. Responsibilities

• Support clients in understanding sustainability & decarbonisation requirements
• Develop, deliver and review whole life carbon reduction strategies (e.g., GLA, LETI & RIBA, RICS, BREEAM)
• Collaborate with clients and designers to implement strategies from design to construction
• Deliver assessment certification schemes such as BREEAM and DREAM; LEED/WELL experience is advantageous
• Provide sustainability appraisals (SAW, SEEAM)
• Support project management and programming
• Assist bid/tender responses and work winning
• Mentor junior staff to upskill

Key requirements

• Knowledge of building design and construction processes
• Experience with WLCAs using OneClick LCA and certification schemes (BREEAM, DREAM)
• Strong numerical/analytical skills and data interpretation for practical solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High attention to detail and methodical problem solving
• Ability to manage varied workloads across multiple projects
• Experience in sustainable buildings, low-carbon design, and environmental performance
• Understanding of sustainability issues and mitigation on projects; awareness of current/future policies and best practices
• Willingness to work on Defence and National Security projects
