Systems Design Engineer

Overview

As a Systems Design Engineer in MBDA’s C2 systems group, you contribute to the development and upgrade of Command and Control software for air defence platforms. You’ll work with the system and software architects to refine functional designs, analyze requirements, and address complex algorithmic behavior to meet challenging performance goals. You’ll help ensure seamless C2 integration with platforms and battlespace concepts for domestic and export customers. This role offers impactful work across the product life-cycle within a mission-driven defence environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the functional design of C2 software alongside system/software architects
• Analyse C2 requirements and interfaces and propose design changes
• Understand the behavior and performance of complex algorithms
• Generate requirements for software and hardware
• Investigate customer queries and translate into engineering work
• Contribute to upgrading existing in-service C2 systems and integrating with customer platforms

Key requirements

• Systems design / systems engineering experience in similar products
• Passion for innovative functional design to meet demanding requirements
• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
