Overview

As Retail Design Manager, you lead the design development and delivery of retail environments across multiple brands, translating brand and commercial goals into deliverable spaces. You will drive projects from concept through technical coordination, ensuring alignment with brand standards, budgets, and timelines. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you ensure on-site execution preserves design intent within a Design & Build context. This role places you at the intersection of design, client partnership, and operational delivery in London.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design development and delivery for diverse retail projects
  • Translate brand requirements and commercial objectives into functional retail environments
  • Oversee projects from concept through design development and technical coordination
  • Ensure designs meet brand standards, budget, and programme constraints
  • Collaborate with project management, commercial, technical, procurement, and construction teams to deliver on-site design intent
  • Provide input to workplace environments when needed
  • Coordinate with clients for design approvals and sign-offs
  • Develop design packages suitable for costing, procurement, and construction
  • Maintain design quality and consistency across multiple projects

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering retail interior design projects within a design consultancy, Design & Build contractor, or similar environment
  • Experience leading projects from concept through delivery
  • Experience working directly with clients and managing design approvals
  • Experience coordinating with project managers, technical teams, commercial teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants
  • Experience developing design packages for costing, procurement, and construction
  • Experience managing budgets and programmes with awareness of commercial implications
  • Experience reviewing prototypes, samples, mock-ups, shop drawings, and technical information
  • Experience site visits and resolving design issues on site
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management
  • Creative yet practical balance of cost, programme, and buildability
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of retail fixtures, joinery, finishes, materials, lighting and retail detailing
