Overview
In this role you will lead and deliver major infrastructure planning applications within AECOM’s national Town Planning team, focusing on DCO projects and energy-related developments. You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, engage with planning authorities and stakeholders, and shape consent strategies. You’ll also support client relationships and business development, contributing to high-profile infrastructure and energy transition projects. This is a chance to influence planning outcomes across the UK and work on landmark schemes with a collaborative, quality-driven team.

Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in the delivery of major development applications
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across project types
- Submit and manage planning applications; liaise with local planning authorities and stakeholders
- Provide planning advice on consent requirements and permitted development rights
- Produce feasibility reports and consent strategies; write Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements
- Contribute to market sector business development and sector strategy
- Identify opportunities and build client relationships; lead tender preparation
- Collaborate with Environmental Impact Assessment team; participate in stakeholder meetings
- Oversee project management ensuring quality and health and safety compliance
Key requirements
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- RTPI membership or equivalent
- Significant experience leading planning consent applications for large infrastructure projects across varied regimes
- Expert witness experience (advantageous)
- Strong client and stakeholder relations; existing client networks
- Business development experience and ability to win work
- Strong written communication; ability to work under pressure
