Overview
In this role you will lead contracting and procurement for major energy transition projects, shaping strategies and guiding commercial decisions across offshore and onshore works. You will provide expert procurement and contract management oversight through the full project lifecycle, focusing on value, risk, and supplier relationships. The role sits within the Controls & Performance context of a large national team, driving governance and continuous improvement. You’ll work with stakeholders across disciplines to deliver strategic objectives and impactful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of contracting and procurement strategies
- Act as commercial and contractual SME advising on procurement approaches and market trends
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities: sourcing, tendering, negotiation, evaluation, contract award
- Draft, negotiate and administer high-value contracts with risk management
- Lead contract management activities including variations, claims, disputes, and change control
- Monitor contractor/supplier performance and ensure compliance with contracts
- Identify and manage commercial, contractual, and supply chain risks while pursuing value optimisation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and partners
- Drive governance, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement across contracting and procurement
- Mentor colleagues and promote commercial best practices to support strategic objectives
Key requirements
- Significant experience in Contracting, Procurement, Commercial, or Supply Chain Management within Energy, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Renewables, or Energy Transition sectors
- Proven track record delivering contracting and procurement strategies for major capital projects
- Experience managing high-value contracts through full lifecycle (tendering to close-out)
- Strong knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, LOGIC, or other standard forms of contract
- Demonstrable negotiation skills focused on value and risk management
- Experience handling contract variations, claims, disputes, and commercial change processes
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience operating in complex, highly regulated project environments
- Desirable: MCIPS, MRICS or equivalent; experience with large-scale infrastructure, offshore, CCUS, hydrogen, renewables, or power projects
- Desirable: understanding of UK procurement regulations and governance frameworks
