Overview

As an Electrical Engineer in AFRY’s Energy Division, you shape electrical infrastructure across thermal and renewable projects. You collaborate within a cross-functional team to deliver feasibility studies, design reviews and EPC/owner’s engineer services that support sustainable energy Solutions. You’ll work on challenging projects, ensuring technical excellence and safety while influencing outcomes from FEED to operation and maintenance. This role offers growth through mentoring younger engineers and contributing to the energy transition.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise to identify and resolve project challenges
  • Offer design support and review designs by others
  • Produce conceptual, preliminary and detailed design deliverables (drawings, specs, cost estimates, schedules)
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations and sketches
  • Attend factory and site acceptance tests
  • Monitor site construction activities and ensure records are accurate
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge and performance
  • Identify and mitigate health & safety, design, sustainability and commercial risks
  • Support business development, client engagements and proposal management
  • Mentor and develop younger engineers

Key requirements

  • 2:1 degree in electrical engineering
  • Chartered status or working towards Chartered (Senior/Principal)
  • Significant knowledge of LV to HV industrial electrical infrastructure (preferred in energy projects)
  • Good knowledge of British and international electrical standards and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving, structuring, proactive decision-making and communication skills
  • Fluent business English (oral and written)
  • Willingness to travel and work under pressure
  • Experience with protection circuits, HV grid connections, HV substations, and coordination with DNOs (advantage)
  • Familiarity with Grid Code/G99 (advantage)
  • Modeling software experience (e.g., ETAP, PowerFactory) (advantage)
  • Good communicator able to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences
  • Structured and articulate writing and presentation skills
  • Open to constructive debate in a professional, non-hierarchical environment
