Overview
In this role you will lead SHESQ across civil rail projects, partnering with site teams to ensure safety, quality and compliance. You will drive audits, investigations and continuous improvement, shaping SHESQ culture on major projects and frameworks. You’ll support tender submissions and governance, while maintaining robust records and reporting. This permanent position offers involvement across London-based sites with occasional travel and a clear impact on project risk management and performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in SHESQ best practices across projects
- Advise managers and supervisors to ensure SHESQ compliance
- Lead site teams to meet SHESQ plan requirements
- Conduct inspections and audits of sites for policy and statutory compliance
- Lead accident/incident investigations and propose corrective actions
- Collect, review and report SHESQ statistics and trends
- Develop and implement SHESQ campaigns and improvement plans
- Review SHESQ documents, including third-party documents
- Support project teams in developing SHESQ Plans
- Produce SHESQ plans, procedures and related documentation
- Identify significant SHESQ issues and set up controls for contracts/yards
- Obtain SHESQ consents/permits or exemptions as required
- Maintain records to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance
- Provide reports and presentations to SHESQ function and leadership
- Support Group Audit Programme and participate in audits
- Contribute to pre-qualification, tender and SHESQ submissions
- Stop work if SHESQ elements are in question
- Disseminate SHESQ information to relevant employees
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- 7+ years in Quality within civil engineering
- Experience in civil rail infrastructure
- Main contractor background
- MCIPS (desirable)
- Full clean driving licence and UK work eligibility
