Overview

In this Associate Director role, you provide strategic and technical leadership for a diverse portfolio of landscape planning projects. You will steer multidisciplinary teams, nurture client relationships, and help grow our landscape planning capability across UK offices. You shape sustainable, context-sensitive solutions for high-profile urban and infrastructure developments. This position offers influence over project direction, team development, and business growth within a collaborative, flexible environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of landscape and townscape planning projects with high-quality outputs and strong client service
  • Provide expert input into LVIA, TVIA and strategic landscape assessments
  • Offer strategic advice on landscape capacity, sensitivity studies, and landscape character assessments (including Green Belt and Strategic Gap)
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor colleagues to develop technical capability
  • Build and maintain client relationships and identify opportunities to grow accounts
  • Contribute to business development, bid preparation, and client engagement
  • Represent the landscape team at meetings, planning inquiries, and public consultations
  • Collaborate with colleagues across UK offices to deliver integrated, innovative solutions
  • Support the strategic development and growth of landscape planning services

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience in landscape planning, ideally in a consultancy
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and managing client relationships
  • Strong technical expertise in LVIA, TVIA and strategic landscape assessment
  • Experience advising on landscape capacity, sensitivity and character (Green Belt and Strategic Gap)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to influence and develop others
  • Experience contributing to bids and client development
  • Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or equivalent
  • Proactive, strategic approach with passion for sustainable, context-sensitive landscape solutions
