Overview
In this role you will lead high-value disease litigation matters for insurer and corporate clients, guiding strategy and client relationships from Bristol. You will mentor the team, drive knowledge sharing, and contribute to the growth of the disease practice within a top-tier, collaborative firm. The position offers exposure to emerging disease risk areas and complex group claims in a market-leading environment. You will work across national and international offices to deliver commercial, efficient legal solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead on complex, high-value disease claims (including EL/PL and legacy/disease risks)
- Provide strategic, commercially focused advice to insurers and corporate clients
- Act as trusted adviser; build long-term client relationships
- Ensure matters are managed efficiently, profitably, and in line with SLAs and firm standards
- Supervise and mentor associates and junior lawyers
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, training and thought leadership
- Support business development, pitches and tenders
- Assist with client relationship management and cross-selling opportunities
- Contribute to seminars, publications and client training
- Promote a positive, inclusive, high-performance team culture
- Support strategic objectives of the Disease practice and collaborate across offices
Key requirements
- England & Wales qualified solicitor with significant PQE in disease litigation
- Strong background acting for insurers and/or large corporate defendants
- Proven ability to manage complex caseloads with limited supervision
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Strong commercial awareness and client-focused approach
- Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers
