Overview

In this role you will lead the process design for water and wastewater infrastructure, shaping solutions from feasibility to construction. You’ll work with a cross-disciplinary team to deliver compliant, high-quality designs and mentor junior staff. You’ll apply hydraulic analysis, risk assessments, and safety reviews to solve complex water challenges. Responsibilities

  • Lead design of process elements for water and wastewater projects including site surveys, liaising with clients and suppliers
  • Perform hydraulic assessments, mass/energy balances, headloss and pumping analyses
  • Develop and review PFDs and P&IDs, and prepare Process specifications and reports
  • Conduct Hazardous Area Classification and LoPA and participate in HAZOP/HAZID safety reviews
  • Support all project design stages (Feasibility to Construction) ensuring compliance with design standards
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and clients to deliver high-quality technical solutions
  • Mentor junior staff and delegate tasks, acting as technical lead when required
  • Lead bid preparation and client engagement for proposals
  • Deliver designs within budget and schedule while supporting clients like Severn Trent, Yorkshire, Wessex, and Irish Water
  • Advise on digital tools adoption (BIM, ProjectWise, intelligent P&IDs) and contribute to in-house tools

Key requirements

  • Extensive design experience in large-scale water engineering projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge
  • BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with water and wastewater treatment experience
  • Chartered Member of a relevant Professional Institution
  • Proven experience in team leadership, mentoring and line management
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills with clients and stakeholders
