Overview

In this role you will provide high‑level technical authority in contaminated land and groundwater modelling to support regulatory compliance and remediation outcomes. You will act as technical lead on complex projects, guide modelling strategy and risk-based decisions, and mentor colleagues to build a capable team. Based in the UK, you’ll collaborate across energy, infrastructure and regulated sectors to shape solutions that protect groundwater and environments. You will translate complex technical findings into clear advice for clients and regulators, driving tangible impact.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead on complex contaminated land, hydrogeology and groundwater modelling projects
  • Provide technical review and quality assurance across assignments
  • Guide modelling strategy and support risk-based decision‑making
  • Design ground and hydrogeological investigations; develop and apply conceptual, analytical and numerical models
  • Prepare and technically review hydrogeological risk assessments and contaminated land reports
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to service development
  • Support the growth and development of the team
  • Travel to UK offices and project sites as required

Key requirements

  • Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline; MSc or PhD valued
  • Significant experience in hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment, groundwater risk assessment and environmental consultancy
  • Demonstrable capability in conceptual site model development and groundwater flow and contaminant transport modelling
  • Ability to review and prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients, regulators and project teams
  • Strong professional judgement and collaborative technical leadership to solve high-stakes problems
