Overview

In this role you lead regional sales for a specialist surgical devices portfolio across the UK, focusing on laparoscopy, colorectal, upper GI and general surgery. You drive sustainable growth by developing the field team, strengthening key accounts and pursuing new opportunities. You provide clinical, technical and commercial support through the sales cycle and product adoption. You translate national objectives into regional plans and contribute to broader commercial initiatives, launches and cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own regional sales performance and targets for the territory and product lines
  • Develop regional business plans aligned with national strategy
  • Set clear territory objectives and measurable team activities
  • Lead, coach and develop the field sales team with regular coaching and performance reviews
  • Support customers with meetings, product demos, evaluations and clinical adoption
  • Recruit, onboard and develop team members; manage performance and development
  • Build senior-level relationships with surgeons, theatre teams and procurement
  • Navigate NHS and private hospital buying pathways and support negotiations
  • Lead regional launches, campaigns and initiatives; contribute to budgets and forecasts
  • Maintain accurate forecasts, CRM records and pipeline reporting
  • Produce regional activity, forecast and performance reports; identify risks and growth opportunities
  • Ensure consignment stock and demonstration equipment are managed
  • Collect market intelligence and analyze competitor activity
  • Represent the company at regional events and conferences
  • Ensure compliance, ethics and high-quality customer service
  • Coordinate cross-functional work with marketing, product management, operations and leadership
  • Plan and manage regional travel and territory coverage
  • Support pricing discussions and tender opportunities
  • Promote continuous professional development for the team
  • Maintain product and procedural knowledge for clinical efficacy

Key requirements

  • Significant medical device sales experience (5+ years)
  • Experience leading or developing a field-based sales team
  • Proven track record of regional sales targets and growth
  • Strong regional planning, forecasting, pipeline and strategic account management skills
  • Experience analyzing sales performance and taking corrective actions
  • Clinical and technical understanding suitable for operating theatres
  • Relationship-building with senior clinical, procurement and commercial stakeholders
  • Experience in laparoscopic, colorectal, upper GI, general and robotic specialties
  • Coaching, communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed team
  • CRM discipline and data/reporting proficiency
  • Cross-functional collaboration capability
  • Integrity, accountability and compliance
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the UK
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Desirable: NHS/private procurement knowledge; complex demos, training and in-theatre adoption experience
