Principal Data Scientist – Water Sector

Overview

In this role you will lead data science initiatives to transform how clients in the water sector use analytics. You collaborate with analysts and data engineers to shape digital strategies and deliver measurable insights for asset optimization, investment planning, and environmental outcomes. You drive digital innovation, mentor teams, and help win new projects by translating data into impactful decisions. This is a hands-on leadership role in a hybrid setup across London, High Wycombe, or Brighton.

Responsibilities

• Lead data science initiatives to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions
• Derive insights using predictive analytics and optimization to support client decisions
• Build automated tools that improve efficiency and provide actionable insights
• Shape digital solutions and drive transformation across client projects
• Collaborate with water-industry clients to design and deliver high-quality solutions
• Mentor and develop junior team members to maintain technical excellence
• Contribute to growth through scoping proposals, setting technical standards, and pursuing new projects

Key requirements

• Strong Python expertise
• Proven ability to develop data visualisations and deploy ML models
• Cloud experience, specifically Azure
• Understanding of DevOps principles and version control
• Knowledge of MS Power Platform, including Power BI and Power Apps
• Ability to tell compelling data stories and influence stakeholders
