Overview
As a Senior Solutions Architect for ECS, you shape the technical direction for secure email and collaboration at Mimecast. You connect product, engineering, and architecture leadership to translate customer problems into durable, scalable interfaces and patterns. You will navigate legacy context while guiding modern, AI-enhanced approaches. Your work accelerates safe, high-quality delivery across the ECS domain and aligns with the company’s AI-first operating model.

Responsibilities
- Lead problem framing with cross-functional teams to surface real customer constraints before proposing technical shapes
- Own integration contracts as first-class artefacts (APIs, event contracts, data schemas) across the Mimecast platform
- Develop architectural context and enable engineering teams with ADRs, NFR targets, and data contracts to support scalable, AI-assisted workflows
- Governance designed to reduce risk and improve quality while avoiding unnecessary ceremony
- Analyze and forecast cost per outcome, modelling architecture economics for mailbox protection and incident remediation
- Communicate decisions and strategy across engineers, product leadership, and commercial leaders through concise records and briefs
Key requirements
- 10+ years building and operating production SaaS systems
- At least 3 years in a Solutions Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent with product-shaping responsibility
- Broad architectural lens across cloud-native patterns and distributed event architectures (AWS, Kafka)
- Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and UX designers
- Strong customer orientation and understanding of SaaS unit economics and scale
- Ability to navigate inherited systems and complex legacy contexts with structured decision-making
- Self-directed, proactive mindset with ability to drive ambiguity to resolution
