In this role you will lead EC&I design for complex, safety-critical projects in Australia’s nuclear and defence sectors. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality electrical, control and instrumentation systems. You’ll guide engineering delivery, run hazard/risk studies, and support testing and commissioning to ensure performance. Responsibilities
- Lead EC&I design to meet project requirements, standards, and regulatory needs
- Prepare/review technical docs, drawings, and calculations with cross-discipline input
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and designers to raise delivery standards
- Conduct engineering studies, option analyses, hazard and risk assessments to inform design
- Contribute to safety-related deliverables and engineering assurance for safety-significant systems
- Collaborate with Project Managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to integrate EC&I solutions
- Support testing, commissioning and validation activities to ensure system performance
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to resolve engineering and project issues
Key requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Proven EC&I delivery across major infrastructure, industrial, defence, or energy projects
- Nuclear experience, particularly defence, is highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of electrical power, control, and instrumentation systems (LV/MV, PLC/SCADA/DCS/ICS/BMS)
- Experience with instrumentation selection/integration and resilient power systems (standby gen, UPS, earthing, bonding, lightning)
- Understanding of functional safety, hazard analysis, SIL assessment, and verification/validation processes
- Ability to lead technically across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in regulated environments and engineering assurance
- CPEng/Chartered status desirable or commitment to registration
- Ability to meet AUKUS defence clearance requirements
