Overview
In this role you will oversee the independent valuation framework across the investment portfolio, ensuring robust governance and compliance for financial reporting and risk management. You will provide technical expertise on complex valuations and drive improvements in valuation processes, working closely with Investment, Finance, Risk and senior governance stakeholders. The position supports regulatory reporting, liquidity modelling, and valuation oversight across diverse asset classes, including illiquid and Level 3 investments. Responsibilities
- Lead independent valuation reviews and price verification across the investment portfolio
- Oversee valuation activity across asset classes including fixed income, derivatives, private credit, structured products, LPI assets, real estate and other Level 3 investments
- Assess and challenge valuation methodologies, assumptions, models, and market data
- Develop and maintain valuation approaches for new and existing asset classes, focusing on complex and illiquid investments
- Monitor valuation controls and investigate breaches or discrepancies with corrective actions
- Drive improvements to valuation models, processes, data quality, and analytical tools
- Produce valuation reporting, management information, and committee papers
- Support development and maintenance of liquidity models and conduct liquidity stress testing and scenario analysis
- Contribute to regulatory, audit, and financial reporting with valuation and liquidity analysis
Key requirements
- Significant experience in investment valuation, risk, or asset management within financial institutions or consultancies
- Expertise in valuing diverse asset classes including illiquid or Level 3 investments
- Deep knowledge of private credit and/or derivatives
- Understanding of derivatives instruments and illiquid structured credit assets
- Knowledge of IFRS and Solvency II regulatory frameworks
- Experience with IPV, valuation governance and model review
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills for complex investment structures and liquidity risk
- Effective stakeholder management and communication with senior leaders and external partners
- Track record of process improvements in valuation systems, controls, reporting, automation and data quality
- Degree in STEM and advanced Excel; Python or VBA advantageous
