Overview

In this role you will deliver structural design for discrete work packages, producing calculations, reports and specifications. You will supervise technicians to produce 3D models and drawings that convey solutions and work within multidisciplinary teams to produce coordinated designs. Site inspections and assessments of existing structures form part of the duties, with reporting to the lead structural engineer and collaboration across project teams. The role supports low-carbon design and embarks on chartership while contributing to impactful projects within a global engineering firm.

Responsibilities

  • Design discrete structural work packages and produce reports, calculation packages and specifications
  • Supervise technicians in creating 3D models and drawings communicating structural solutions
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated design solutions
  • Communicate designs verbally and in sketches, drawings, writing and presentations
  • Visit sites to inspect construction progress and assess existing structures
  • Report to the lead structural engineer and engage with external consultants as part of project teams

Key requirements

  • An engineering degree and progressing towards Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE)
  • Working knowledge of structural engineering principles and Eurocodes
  • Developing understanding of analytical techniques and design software
  • Interest in low carbon design and embodied carbon assessment
  • Willingness to take responsibility for designs and support junior team members
