Senior Electrical Engineer- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

Overview

In this role you will advance renewable energy and energy storage projects, delivering FEED, detailed design and grid connections for large BESS installations. You will join a multidisciplinary team tackling energy transition challenges across the UK, Ireland and beyond. You’ll shape BESS and grid integration solutions, collaborating with clients to enable reliable, scalable sustainable energy. This position offers exposure to major renewables programs and the chance to drive impactful infrastructure developments.

Responsibilities

• Develop BESS balance of plant (BOP) designs
• Design grid connection solutions (11kV–400kV) for energy storage and renewables
• Perform FEED and feasibility studies for energy storage systems and grid connections
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions
• Support bidding, project management and quality assurance activities
• Provide design assurance for existing or new renewable generation facilities

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in FEED, detailed design or owner’s engineer roles
• Knowledge of battery storage technologies and HV grid connections for BESS
• Experience in consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or utility in energy sector
• Knowledge of grid connection requirements (G99, G100, grid code) for transmission assets
• Understanding of electrical plant items and control systems (transformers, cables, breakers, HV protection & control)
• Experience with AutoCAD, EnergyPro, CYMCAP, Cableizer, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, DigSILENT
