Global Commodities – Gas and Power Trader – Vice President or Executive Director

Overview

In this role you will price and manage risks for gas and power across EMEA, handling both physical and derivative exposures. You will collaborate with sales and banking to grow the gas and power franchise while exploring new markets and bespoke transactions. You’ll analyze energy-transition trends to generate commercial ideas and risk-management strategies in a fast-paced environment. This position offers impact through shaping risk solutions and market access for a diverse client base.

Responsibilities

• Price and manage physical and derivative risks in liquid and illiquid benchmarks across the EMEA gas and power space
• Structure and execute complex and bespoke transactions within EMEA gas and power space
• Enable access to new markets to harvest future opportunities in structured trading
• Drive growth of the bank’s customer franchise via risk management and asset optimization solutions
• Steer in-house pricing models and fundamentals analysis; help build analytical infrastructure as needed

Key requirements

• Significant demonstrable experience trading European power and gas benchmarks (physical and derivatives)
• Strong understanding of gas and power options and their use in structured trading (time, location, cross-asset basis)
• Competency in logistical-delivery aspects of short-term gas and power trading
• Solid understanding of power and gas fundamentals modelling and analysis
• Proven ability to translate fundamental analysis and quantitative modelling into trading opportunities and asset optimization
• High initiative and resourcefulness with commercial problem-solving orientation
• Strong team player capable of leading diverse stakeholders through energy risk-management life cycle
