Overview

In this role you guide a multidisciplinary mechanical team to deliver complex projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, and civic facilities. You will lead engineering quality, mentor staff, and drive sustainable design using BIM and other digital tools. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with project goals and client needs. You help shape design excellence and project delivery while advancing the firm’s mission to innovate sustainably.

Responsibilities

  • Plan workload and resources for the Industrial Mechanical team and coordinate with Team Leads
  • Mentor and develop team members and influence design standards
  • Lead and contribute to fee development and technical writing for mechanical components in multi-disciplinary proposals
  • Provide technical input for large, high-complexity projects and select/engineer mechanical systems
  • Develop designs through sketches, models, diagrams and other visuals; utilize BIM for 3D models and markups
  • Prepare and revise mechanical documentation (plans, diagrams, details)
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
  • Coordinate project specifications with construction documents; participate in constructability reviews
  • Conduct QA/QC on own and peers’ projects; develop new mechanical standards and specs
  • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches; oversee multiple projects

Key requirements

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Ability to check others’ work and manage time to meet budgets and schedules
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills; ability to present ideas clearly
  • Security Clearance eligibility with the Department of National Defense
  • Advanced oral and written communication; presentation skills preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, Revizto, and heat load calculation software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum 15 years of experience
