Overview

As a Transaction Management Specialist at Citi, you support the Legal Function in negotiating and documenting business transactions. You will work with internal teams and clients to clarify terms, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role blends legal documentation insight with practical negotiation to enable Citi’s growth and client relationships. You will engage cross-functionally to streamline processes and contribute to regulatory and product initiatives. This is a client-forward, impact-driven position in a global financial institution.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and documentation for Citi businesses
  • Lead timely and thorough business negotiations
  • Coordinate with internal clients, counsel, and first/second lines during negotiations
  • Provide domain knowledge to address contractual queries and escalate to senior attorneys when needed
  • Initiate contact with unresponsive customers and maintain negotiation records
  • Stay informed on regulatory issues and ensure compliance
  • Identify opportunities for regulatory implementation, process improvements, or new products/services
  • Advise Risk and business partners on risks and documentation requirements

Key requirements

  • Bachelor degree, Master preferred
  • In-house legal experience in financial services preferred
  • Contractual and documentation negotiation experience in a large institutional setting
  • Proven track record of completing complex documentation under tight deadlines
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills; ability to engage senior management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of legal customs and practices
