Senior / Principal Sustainability Consultant – BREEAM Assessor

Overview

As a Senior/Principal Sustainability Consultant, you will lead our UK building certification practice, shaping carbon reduction and Net Zero strategies for diverse projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, model and report sustainability solutions, driving high-quality delivery and business development. This role offers scope to influence projects from early design through certification, with a focus on cost-effective decarbonisation and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage building certification projects and bids
• Provide expert guidance on BREEAM, WELL and other schemes
• Support clients in setting decarisation targets and pathways
• Mentor junior consultants and assist senior colleagues
• Coordinate with clients, partners and stakeholders
• Deliver sustainability advice in early design stages
• Produce technical summaries and reports
• Analyze large datasets and translate into outputs
• Oversee internal quality assurance procedures
• Recommend low carbon design measures and present findings

Key requirements

• Degree in engineering, architecture, building services or related discipline
• Expertise in building certification schemes (BREEAM, WELL)
• 5+ years’ sustainability consulting experience in built environment
• Licensed BREEAM Assessor
• Experience delivering certification projects and leading/mentoring teams
• Knowledge of decarbonisation, climate resilient design and environmental impact assessments
• Commercial awareness in business development, marketing and proposal writing
