Overview
In this Finance Director role, you will partner with the Business Unit Managing Director to steer commercial decision-making and financial performance during a rapid growth phase. You will balance strategic business partnering with hands-on financial leadership within a lean structure, shaping the unit’s approach to large-scale projects. You’ll influence governance, risk, and reporting while collaborating with operations and commercial teams to unlock value and sustain project delivery. This position offers high visibility and a direct line to strategic direction within a growing organisation.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the Business Unit Managing Director and leadership to support decision-making
- Lead annual planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide financial insight, challenge and analysis across commercial decisions, risks and opportunities
- Evaluate bids, contracts and new business opportunities
- Deliver accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting
- Maintain financial controls, governance and reporting framework
- Monitor performance via financial metrics, KPIs and operational reporting
- Support project performance, cost control and working capital management
- Identify risks and support mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with external auditors across the project portfolio
- Ensure compliance with contractual, audit and reporting requirements
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and ways of working
- Build and maintain relationships with operational and commercial stakeholders across projects and sites
- Contribute strategically as a senior leadership team member to shape future business direction
Key requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in finance business partnering, commercial finance or operational finance leadership
- Experience supporting large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience operating at senior level in a project-led environment
- Strong financial planning, forecasting and reporting capability
- Proven ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling skills
- Experience managing financial performance, budgets and business plans
- Knowledge of financial governance, controls and risk management frameworks
- Ability to operate in a lean structure balancing strategic and operational responsibilities
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
- Construction, infrastructure or project-based sector experience
