In this role, you design Protection & Control for HV/EHV substations, developing SLDs, wiring diagrams, and control interfaces while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to meet client standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare Protection & Control designs for HV/EHV substations (11kV–400kV+)
- Develop SLDs, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams
- Design protection relay, control, annunciation, metering, and RTU/SCADA interfaces
- Prepare relay settings philosophy and coordinate with system studies
- Perform protection coordination and review relay configurations
- Prepare engineering calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, battery sizing)
- Coordinate with Civil, Primary, Telecom, and SCADA teams
- Review vendor drawings for compliance; support FAT, SAT, commissioning, issue resolution
- Ensure designs comply with IEC/IEEE/National Grid/client standards
- Support project execution to meet quality, safety, and schedule requirements
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience in HV/EHV Substation Protection & Control Design
- Knowledge of protection schemes for Transmission and Distribution substations
- Experience with protection relays from Siemens, GE, ABB/Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, or SEL
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- CDAE qualification is highly desirable
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation automation systems
- Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, SAS, and communication protocols
- Ability to deliver complete Protection & Control engineering packages independently
- Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments
