Overview

As Global Controller, you will lead Turnitin’s worldwide accounting function, ensuring accurate financial operations and compliant reporting. You’ll partner with the CLT and FP&A leadership to drive governance, risk management, and process innovation. You’ll build a high-performing, globally distributed team and oversee end-to-end finance activities—from statutory reporting to treasury and tax. This role offers the chance to scale finance operations, adopt automation, and influence strategic decisions in a mission-driven education company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to elevate Global Accounting as a value-add center
  • Design scalable organization structure and capacity models to support growth
  • Build and empower high-performing accounting teams across core pillars
  • Oversee end-to-end accounting strategy including statutory reporting, audit, payroll, treasury, compliance, and tax
  • Partner with the CLT to implement robust governance and global controls
  • Standardize SOPs and internal controls to mitigate risk across markets
  • Lead risk management audit collaborations with Advance Risk Advisory
  • Oversee external/internal audits to ensure clean outcomes
  • Deliver timely, data-informed financial insights for executives and the Board
  • Drive process automation and modern finance tools to improve efficiency
  • Lead M&A integration across regional finance operations and systems
  • Drive continuous improvement and agile performance culture
  • Align team goals with enterprise strategy through transparent communication
  • Optimize resource allocation and capacity planning
  • Manage global departmental budgets and maximize ROI on finance tech
  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the CFO on transformative initiatives
  • Evaluate and implement AI and emerging technologies in finance processes

Key requirements

  • Strategic Finance Vision & Digital Transformation experience
  • 10+ years of progressive executive finance leadership
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance with CPA/CA or equivalent
  • Deep US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition expertise
  • Strong knowledge of US and international tax accounting and treasury
  • Agile execution and ability to manage complex priorities with tight timelines
  • Excellent communication to translate financial concepts for executives
  • Cross-functional partnership and business acumen
  • Strategic agility to connect long-term strategy with execution
