Overview
In this role you will provide robust, creative advice within Stantec’s Rivers and Coastal Management team to support a broad mix of public and private sector projects. You’ll work on flood alleviation, flood risk assessment, and surface water management with a focus on nature-based solutions and sustainable development. You will deliver and review technical analyses and drainage strategies across regeneration, urban expansion and major infrastructure schemes, collaborating across disciplines to drive meaningfully safer, more resilient communities. This position offers a balance of home and office work and a chance to influence projects from pre-planning through construction.

Responsibilities
- Provide robust, creative technical guidance to clients on flood risk, surface water and SuDS strategies
- Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary projects across regeneration, urban expansion and large infrastructure
- Deliver and review hydrological and hydraulic analyses, flood risk reports, drainage strategies, and InfoDrainage calculations
- Design flood protection measures from pre-planning to construction
- Prepare clear reports and maintain strong client engagement
Key requirements
- BSc/BEng/MEng in civil engineering (or qualified water management consultant)
- Incorporated or Chartered with a relevant professional body or working towards chartership
- Experience in surface/foul water drainage design, SuDS and nature-based solutions
- Drainage network modelling (Microdrainage or InfoDrainage)
- Hydraulic modelling (ICM, Flood Modeller, or TUFLOW)
- WFD assessment and geomorphology awareness
- Experience with flood protection design and project life cycle
- Strong report-writing and client-facing skills
