Overview
As a Corporate Solicitor (Legal Director) in the education practice, you will advise independent schools and education groups on acquisitions, disposals, and strategic transactions, and support mergers, restructurings, and governance matters. You will lead matters from start to finish and build long-term client relationships while promoting cross‑selling and thought leadership. This role combines high‑level advisory work with mentoring and helping grow a specialist education practice.

Responsibilities
- Advise on acquisitions, disposals and strategic transactions for education clients
- Support mergers, restructurings and collaborative arrangements for charities and educational organisations
- Provide governance and constitutional advice to boards and senior leadership teams
- Lead matters from inception to completion, collaborating with the wider Education team
- Develop long-term client relationships and become a trusted adviser for corporate needs
- Identify cross-sell opportunities and build internal/external referral networks
- Contribute to the firm’s profile through networking, events and thought leadership
- Mentor and develop junior lawyers within the team
Key requirements
- Minimum 8 years PQE in corporate law with education sector experience
- Strong corporate transactional experience and ability to lead matters confidently
- Experience at Legal Director or Partner level or readiness to step into that role
- Excellent drafting and technical legal knowledge
- Commercial approach with practical legal advice
- Interest or experience in education and/or charity sectors
- Proven business development skills and ability to convert relationships into opportunities
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
