Overview
As a Senior/Principal Transport Planner in the Passenger Transit Group, you will lead transit schemes from inception to delivery across the UK, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll shape client outcomes, manage deliverables, and contribute to WSP’s growth pillars while leveraging the firm’s global reach. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities to influence net-zero and future-mobility strategies. You’ll act as a client-focused leader, mentor juniors, and drive multi-stage projects that impact communities.

Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to diverse transit projects and proposals (technical and commercial inputs)
- Deliver high-quality outputs aligned with client requirements
- Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams across service lines to deliver large projects
- Build and manage relationships with local clients and secure work
- Take a lead role in technical reviews and quality checks of deliverables
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members
- Oversee financial performance of projects and the team’s commercial results
- Contribute to WSP’s four pillars: People, Clients & Growth, Operations, and Expertise
- Engage with Net Zero and Future Mobility growth areas on innovative strategies
Key requirements
- Experience in passenger transit and mobility planning and design
- Transport data analysis experience
- Understanding of regulatory and legislative environment for passenger transit
- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with passenger transit clients and leading workstreams or projects
- Project management skills across transport and multi-disciplinary projects
