Overview

In this leadership role, you drive end-to-end MEP delivery across multiple construction projects, ensuring high quality, safety, and on-time completion. You lead a team of MEP professionals, align work with business objectives, and provide strategic technical guidance. You will oversee preconstruction planning, design approvals, and risk mitigation, while optimizing resources and maintaining regulatory compliance. This position offers the opportunity to shape MEP delivery and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve project success.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the MEP strategy across all projects and align with business objectives
  • Lead and manage MEP teams, coordinating internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary MEP contact, providing technical guidance to resolve challenges
  • Collaborate with preconstruction to assess MEP requirements during tender and planning
  • Review and approve MEP designs, specs, and schedules for feasibility
  • Identify risks in planning and develop mitigation strategies
  • Oversee MEP delivery across multiple projects, ensuring quality, safety, and budget adherence
  • Monitor project progress and report to Group Construction Director
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify installation quality and resolve issues
  • Manage MEP resources across projects, reallocating as needed
  • Identify skill gaps and implement training programs
  • Collaborate with project managers to optimize resource use and prevent delays
  • Ensure regulatory and statutory compliance for MEP systems
  • Establish QA/QC processes and conduct audits and inspections
  • Address non-compliance promptly

Key requirements

  • Strong technical expertise across MEP systems (design, installation, maintenance)
  • Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills for multiple projects
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
  • Effective communication and stakeholder influence
  • Experience in MEP project management with senior leadership
  • Experience in preconstruction planning, resource allocation, and project delivery
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and compliance requirements
  • Chartered status or membership with a professional body (desirable)
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
