Overview
In this role you will coordinate external maintenance for a mixed HGV/LCV fleet to maximise availability and ensure compliant, safe operations. You’ll liaise with maintenance providers, manage inspections and defects, and uphold Operator Licence obligations. You will partner with drivers and internal teams to reduce downtime and drive efficiency. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on service reliability and fleet performance.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate external maintenance across HGV/LCV and leased fleets to support operations.
- Drive timely servicing, inspections, defect repairs and safety-critical maintenance via the provider network.
- Manage maintenance schedules, reactive repairs and breakdown support to maximise vehicle availability.
- Ensure defects reported by drivers or inspections are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Support Operator Licence compliance, including inspections, MOTs and regulatory documentation.
- Maintain audit-ready maintenance records and escalate compliance risks as needed.
- Manage pool vehicles to ensure availability during downtime and maintenance events.
- Develop strong relationships with maintenance providers, leasing companies and fleet suppliers to improve performance.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics such as availability, Off Road time, inspection completion and supplier turnaround times.
- Act as liaison for drivers, operational leaders and suppliers to resolve issues and deliver high service levels.
Key requirements
- Experience coordinating maintenance across HGV/LCV fleets
- Experience managing external maintenance providers and supplier relationships
- Experience using fleet management systems with analytical problem-solving
- Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree in Transport Operations
- Transport Manager CPC qualification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
