Operations Manager

Overview

As Operations Manager at Samworth Brothers, you will lead a significant chilled food manufacturing site, driving safety, quality, service, cost and people performance. You’ll shape the site’s operational direction as part of the leadership team, embedding operational excellence and building capability for long-term success. You’ll collaborate with NPD, Process Development and Commercial teams to support product launches and capital projects that boost capability and efficiency. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Health, Safety and Environmental agenda and maintain a strong compliance culture
• Deliver performance across quality, service, efficiency, waste, yield and cost
• Set direction for the Operations team aligned to divisional and site strategies
• Inspire, coach and develop Production Managers and operational teams
• Drive engagement, accountability and alignment across teams
• Champion Operational Excellence and sustained improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with NPD, Process Development and Commercial teams to support new product launches
• Identify, prioritise and deliver capital projects to improve capability and performance

Key requirements

• Proven manufacturing leader with track record of delivering results
• Experience leading manufacturing teams in a fast-paced chilled food environment
• Experience managing customer compliance and meeting customer expectations
• Success in leading large, diverse teams and driving sustainable improvements
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence across functions
• Coaching leadership style with focus on developing capability and talent
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how operations impact business performance
