Overview
In this role you will develop and assess therapeutic play plans for children in hospital, integrating with the overall care plan. You will monitor outcomes and adapt interventions with a multidisciplinary team, while mentoring fellow Play Specialists. This position sits within The Portland Hospital’s paediatric inpatient service and supports a patient-centred approach to care. You will contribute to high-quality, compassionate paediatric care in a private hospital setting.

Responsibilities
- Conduct therapeutic assessments and design play programmes tailored to each child
- Monitor progress and modify interventions to ensure care plan effectiveness
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet overall child care goals
- Mentor and support junior Play Specialists and Play Assistants
Key requirements
- Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism OR Level 4 Diploma in Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People
- Registered with HPSET
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic play practices for ages 0–17
- Desirable experience mentoring Play Specialists and Play Assistants
