Overview
You will lead electrical design across a range of energy projects, from feasibility to commissioning, shaping safe and compliant solutions. As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll guide technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and ensure integrated outcomes with other disciplines. The role focuses on sustainable energy delivery, covering generators, protection, substations, and transmission elements. You’ll collaborate with clients and stakeholders to drive impactful, compliant designs in the UK energy sector.

Responsibilities
- lead the electrical design of projects from feasibility through construction and commissioning
- design, model and analyse electrical and electronic systems for feasibility and compliance
- develop and supervise generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations and transmission lines
- produce and interpret design drawings and documents (SLDs, block diagrams, load schedules, specs, reports)
- provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- collaborate with civil, mechanical and other disciplines to deliver integrated designs
- participate in collaborative reviews and design discussions/technical workshops
Key requirements
- Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status (IET) with UK registration preferred
- experience in the energy sector; other sectors like water or buildings acceptable
- proficient in creating/interpreting design drawings and documents (SLDs, line diagrams, calculations, load schedules, specifications)
- experience with HV/EHV voltages and UK requirements/regulations
- strong communication skills for client presentations and team workshops
- ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated projects
