Overview
In this role you will lead technically challenging rail engineering assignments across the UK, shaping future rail infrastructure and electrification schemes. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high safety and quality standards. You drive collaboration, mentorship, and robust project controls to ensure successful outcomes that align with Arcadis’ sustainable design and impact goals. A key focus is delivering complex station regenerations and major electrification work that benefits communities and the environment. Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary rail engineering projects and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with high safety and quality standards
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to project teams, promoting collaboration and inclusivity
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships and ensure needs are understood and exceeded
- Develop and maintain project programmes, financial controls, and reporting for continuous improvement
- Oversee resource allocation, supplier selection, and performance management to optimize outcomes
- Champion health, safety, and risk management throughout the lifecycle
- Foster team development through mentoring and support
Key requirements
- Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or related discipline (Chartered membership desirable)
- Significant experience in UK rail projects with knowledge of Network Rail GRIP processes
- Proven track record in design and management of major electrification schemes and LV building services
- Experience as Designer, Checker, and/or CRE in renewals, signalling power, point heating, and DNO supplies
- Strong technical expertise in rail M&E systems for depots and stations, with understanding of BS7671
- Excellent communication, team leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in project and commercial management including change control and programme delivery
