Electrical Design Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the electrical engineering team focused on ground support equipment design
• Manage projects from concept through detailed design, validation and production release
• Plan, allocate and oversee resources across several concurrent programs
• Ensure on-time delivery within scope and budget, with technical leadership on complex challenges
• Support new product development and enhancements
• Conduct performance reviews and support talent development
• Foster accountability, technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Ensure compliance with customer specs and standards (EN12312, EN1915, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC)
• Approve designs, drawings, calculations, specifications and documentation
• Oversee ECO process and participate in design reviews (concept to critical design)
• Verify and validate designs prior to production release
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly and serviceability (DFMA)
• Collaborate with Manufacturing to resolve build issues and improve efficiency
• Support value engineering to improve cost competitiveness
• Coordinate with Supply Chain on components and supplier integration
• Partner with Mechanical Engineering for integrated system designs
• Assist Sales and Product Management with customer-specific requirements
• Translate field feedback and warranty data into product improvements with After-Sales
• Contribute to cross-department initiatives aligned with operational excellence
• Drive improvements in processes and workflows, promote standardisation and modular architectures
• Foster innovation in electrical design and manufacturing technologies
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability and sustainability
• Develop, set and monitor KPIs for delivery, quality, efficiency and cost

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Significant experience designing electrical systems for heavy equipment or mobile platforms
• Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in an engineering environment
• Strong 2D/3D Electrical CAD proficiency (EPlan, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, DraftSight or similar)
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, complex systems integration and control systems
• Proven experience managing full product development lifecycle
• Knowledge of regulated engineering environments and safety standards
• Experience driving engineering process improvements or design standardisation
• Strong technical judgement, attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Commercial awareness of manufacturing cost drivers
