Overview
As Research Manager, Field Building, you will help deliver Wellcome’s Climate & Health strategy by funding, convening and sharing learning through a portfolio of projects. You will manage funding calls, scoping studies and programme evaluations, while building cross-sector partnerships to strengthen research capacity. You’ll work with researchers, funders and policy partners to drive impact in climate-related health outcomes, with opportunities to influence strategy and sector development. This role combines research management, stakeholder engagement and practical action at scale.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to Climate & Health funding activities: convene stakeholders, inform funding decisions, produce reviews, and provide specialist expertise as needed
- Monitor the Climate & Health portfolio, track progress, assess culture and inclusion, share insights across programmes
- Develop and maintain relationships with applicants and funded researchers, acting as a primary contact throughout the funding lifecycle
- Plan, deliver and close-out Climate & Health projects and major initiatives, coordinating activities with partners
- Engage external advisors to ensure decisions are informed by high-quality expertise
- Communicate aims, impact and funding opportunities to the research community and partner organisations
Key requirements
- Breadth of research expertise relevant to Capacity and Field Development in Climate & Health from academia, industry, funding, or charity settings
- Experience/knowledge of universities, funders and scientific communities
- Ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences
- Strong writing skills with ability to synthesize information concisely
- Experience/knowledge of managing projects in academic, charity or industry settings
- International context experience, particularly in LMICs, is advantageous
- PhD not essential; openness to varied career paths
