Overview
In this role you will lead electrical design across a range of UK energy projects, from feasibility to commissioning, focusing on HV/EHV systems, substations and transmission elements. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with civil and mechanical teams to deliver integrated, standards-compliant solutions. Responsibilities
- lead electrical design for projects including generators, control and instrumentation, protection, substations and transmission lines
- perform feasibility studies, concept design, modelling and analysis to ensure project viability and compliance
- produce and interpret design drawings and documents (single line diagrams, load schedules, specifications)
- collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated designs
- provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- support client presentations and collaborative design discussions
- drive design reviews and ensure alignment with industry standards and regulations
- contribute to project execution from feasibility through commissioning
Key requirements
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET
- experience in the Energy sector (HV/EHV experience preferred)
- experience producing/interpreting design drawings and documents
- strong communication and presentation skills
- ability to work in cross-functional teams and client-facing environments
