Overview

As a Development Planner at WSP in Leeds, you will contribute to a range of development projects from commercial and residential to Local Development Framework representations, shaping transport strategies and expert evidence. You will work within the Development Planning team and collaborate with highways, services, structures, and environmental teams on multi-disciplinary projects. You’ll lead transport planning input on assignments while developing project management and commercial skills with senior support. Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical transport planning input on Development Planning projects
  • Develop transport strategies and related planning document outputs (TA, Travel Plans, parking strategies)
  • Support private sector client proposals through the planning process and public sector transport/business case development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Lead transport planning contributions in projects with guidance from senior colleagues and mentors
  • Develop project management and commercial skills through hands-on delivery and knowledge sharing

Key requirements

  • Experience with Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking strategies, sustainable/active transport
  • Experience preparing traffic flow information for TA or Environmental Statements
  • Ability to set up and run junction capacity modelling software (Junctions 10, Linsig) and perform scenario testing
  • Conceptual junction design capability (priority, roundabout, signals)
  • Good communication skills with clients and project teams
  • Ability to share knowledge and work with Excel and Word
