Overview
In this role you join a multidisciplinary Stantec team to advance dam, hydro, and pumped storage projects across the UK. You’ll help design and develop cutting-edge solutions while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. You’ll work on both advisory and detailed design tasks, with opportunities to support remediation, due diligence, and lender requirements. This role offers exposure to high-profile projects and a chance to shape sustainable energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers and clients to drive positive project outcomes
- Contribute to owner’s engineer duties, concept design for clients, detailed design for contractors, remediation, troubleshooting, installation support and due diligence/due diligence for lenders/insurance
- Engage in advisory roles and client-facing activities across project phases
- Produce technical specifications, designs, and reports; integrate with structures, geotechnical and M&E disciplines
- Work in a full 3D environment and common data environment to sketch and review models
- Support the development of new dams, reservoirs and hydro schemes and assist UK water companies with related work
- Demonstrate passion for sustainable energy and impact within the hydropower sector
Key requirements
- Experienced Civil Engineer in dams/hydro or aligned water-energy sector experience
- Ideally Chartered or Incorporated with ICE or working towards
- Experience in civil design of dams, hydro/pumped storage or hydraulic structures
- Ability to design, assess and integrate hydraulic structures (channels, culverts, bridges, spillways, stilling basins)
- Experience producing technical specifications, designs, reports; collaboration with other disciplines (structures, geotechnical, M&E)
- Comfortable with 3D design tools and common data environments
- Knowledge of end-user and D&B contractor design processes
