Senior FinOps Engineer (Cloud Financial Operations)

Overview

In this role you drive cloud cost visibility, governance and optimisation for a multi-million-euro estate. You partner with engineering, finance and platform teams to translate usage and billing data into clear actions that improve efficiency. You will shape tagging, allocation, and commitment strategies while embedding cost-aware decision making in design and delivery. Responsibilities

• Own cloud cost visibility end to end, including tagging, allocation and showback to attribute spend to teams, products, and services
• Drive rate optimisation across the cloud estate via commitment management and Savings Plans/RIs strategy
• Build and maintain FinOps reporting, dashboards and tooling to turn billing data into actionable insight
• Improve forecasting accuracy and support budgeting with finance partners
• Identify workload optimisation and waste reduction through rightsizing, scheduling, and architecture opportunities
• Define and track cloud efficiency KPIs and embed cost-aware engineering into design and delivery
• Investigate cost anomalies and act as the go-to expert for cloud cost questions

Key requirements

• Several years of experience in a FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, or related cloud/tech finance role
• Solid understanding of public cloud architecture (preferably AWS) and cost drivers
• Hands-on experience with tagging governance, allocations, and commitment instruments (RI/Savings Plans)
• Strong analytical skills to interpret usage data and spot patterns
• Experience with FinOps or BI tooling; scripting (Python) for reporting/automation is a plus
• Ability to communicate cost insights to technical and financial stakeholders and drive accountability
